Scaredy Cat

Howdy hey Everyone! This week honestly has been a little slow. I swear I have knocked more doors this past couple days then I have my entire life! Elder McVey is better than I am I need to take a page from his book and not get discouraged when the 300th door gets closed on us. But it is all good I feel that something big is around the corner. This last Saturday we had a baptism of an investigator that I worked with quite a bit before the area split. I had the privilege of Confirming her yesterday. She was so happy I can’t even describe it. Now we just have to keep pushing and hope for some more people to teach and get into the water. Pray for us and hopefully the Lord will help give us a few miracles to work with. Oh and with the constant trackting I have worn through quite a few socks and am in need of more if any one can send some pairs my way it would be very much appreciated. (and colorful interesting fun socks are ok too) But today I don’t know I guess I was in a Halloween spirit with it being almost October so I was thinking about fear this week. Fear I figured out is a natural part of the fall of Adam and Eve. One of the first emotions they felt was fear because they were naked. So its part of being mortal to experience it. It is good sometimes even when it allows us to step outside our comfort zones and do all grow. But it is when we are paralyzed by fear and allow it to take control of us that it is a problem. But the Lord has given us the solution and the remedy for fear in Doctrine and Covenants 6:36 Look unto me in every thought Doubt not Fear not. Faith that the Lord is there and that he can help us is the way that we can lose our fear. DOesn’t mean that we will be taken from the challenges that we will face but we will have the Confidence and Courage that the Lord will hel;p us through and with that we can accomplish anything. LOve you all and remember if any of my thoughts and thinks you want to check out again Chech out elderroundysokadventures.wordpress.com

Families The Ties that Bind And Gag

Howdy hey everyone! Once again P-day has come really quickly and none to soon! I am the proud Father(trainer) of an amazing son named Elder McVey. He is keeping me moving and going. I swear he is already more trained than I am! He picked up on tracting right off. We have had to do a lot of it since we have almost no investigators in our new area of Chickasha south. But that is not going to be that way for long.Already we have been able to pick up 4 new investigators and have a whole big line of potentials to get turned into investigators. I pray the Lord keeps blessing us and that he gets a good start in the area and in the mission. This week I have been going over my notes from conference and thinking a lot about them. And so if you watched it you would have picked up that family was largely the topic spoken on. I love my family and that that they do for me and all of you who are really my family if not by blood then as children of God. So I have been thinking about something along with that. We are told in the family proclamation that Satan will be trying to destroy the family and that the best thing that people can do is protect the family. Sheri Dew said that the best way to protect the family is by both doing things together and not squabbling and arguing and gossiping and having dissensions among ourselves. I know that I am far from even close to being able to say something about fighting with siblings but it really does make sense for the spirit of the lord to help us against the storms of the adversary then we must keep it with us. And 3rd nephi says that THe spirit of contention is of the devil and driveth the spirit of the L:ord away. I don’t know maybe this was just a rebuke for me since I was far from perfect in the matter but I hope that we can all strive to keep the spirit of love and peace around and it will definatley help us to keep our families strong! Love you guys and hope you have an awesome week!

Hey hows it going everyone! I am doing pretty good here continuing to prep the area for me and my new missionary to take over. We have seen the lords hand in numerous ways and we are just going to tear this place up! I can’t wait to start training but would request that your prayers be with me so that I do not totally mess this guy up. It is going to be a little bit more stressful but I think with the Lord even I might have a chance of starting him off right. We will find out who he is and everything about him Wednesday and then the fun begins! Unfortunately we got specific instructions not to prank them so at least we will save him that trauma but some of the people that we teach they don’t even need to be asked to prank them to get a good laugh somewhat at their expense. But besides that not much is new. Just this morning I was reading in 12 Steps and 12 Traditions which was published by the A.A. and it had a really good insight that stuck to me and I want to share. It was talking about finding a higher power and switching dependency. They gave the metaphor that a dependency on God is somewhat like a dependency on Electricity. It is silent and most of the time we don’t give it a second thought. But it is very powerful and at times very dangerous, and just as we can’t just expect to have electricity all the time we can’t expect to have the Lords influence without a little work on our part. We have to pay the electric bill we have to flip the light switches. For the powers of heaven to opporate in our lives we need to do the things that can pay the bill. Keep the commandments, do scripture study, and go to church. Then when we flip the switch through prayer we can have the blessings that we need and the power is there ready for us to use. Love you all and hope  you have a fantastic week!

I am Positive!

Howdy! I hope everyone is enjoying their three day weekend having fun! This is going to be an exciting transfer as I found out that I am going to be a Dad. For those of you unfamiliar with missionary lingo that means that I am going to be training a brand spanking new missionary fresh out the MTC. It is definitely a frightening call as I will be opening up a second area in our city that has very few investigators in it. So it will be a transfer of hitting the pavement, knocking doors and spending a lot of time on our knees. It will be good though I am super excited. Other than that nothing with too much excitement going on around here. Just the regular teaching working and trying to find. We are in need of new people to teach so if y’all could keep that in your prayers it would be much appreciated! So the think of the week is about attitude. I always have remembered hanging in my mothers classroom a sign that says “Attitude determines altitude.” That ha been on my mind a lot this week and our district leader gave a training on something similar just a few weeks ago. Where there is a pattern to things. When we have a bad attitude we get discouraged, when we get discouraged we lower our expectations, when we have lower expectations we have lower effectiveness, when we are less effective we have less desire and when we have a weakened desire we get a bad attitude about doing what is needed. And it all falls back in line. BUt when we have a good attitude and don’t let things get us down then we  get encouraged, we have higher expectations, we are increasingly more effective and we have an increased desire to do work. You can see where the altitude plays a part. Are we raising ourselves higher or are we bringing ourselves down, because ultimately our happiness is our choice. There will be outside influences that do play a part but when the chips are down are we going to endure and keep climing or are we going to just let ourselves slide down the hill. Kevin Petersen said “hanging in there is not a priciple of the gospel.” and its true the airplane either stays up and maintains altitude or it comes crashing down. Hope that my thinks help out. I all y’all and hope that everything works out for ya. But everything is ok in OK!
