Mission Commitment

Oh Idk I think this is kinda fun but we did this a little while ago and thought I would share with yall

My Mission Commitment

I am a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been called by the Holy Priesthood of God and committed to set aside worldly endeavors, and the companionship of family and friends to serve for two years as an emissary of the Lord Jesus Christ in sharing his gospel to the people of the Oklahoma Oklahoma City Mission.

I commit to Love and Serve these people unconditionally in every way possible. I will become more mature in my conduct and more Christ like in my nature. I will become more fully devoted to my faith in the gospel and more consecrated in my service to the Lord. I will be obedient to both the rules in the White Handbook and to the directions from mission leaders. I will internalize my purpose as a missionary of helping people draw closer to Christ by helping them unlock and access the power of the Atonement through the Doctrine of Christ. I will Open My Mouth always to share my testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel of Christ.

I know that as I fulfil this vision for myself through Diligent Labor, Daily Accountability to both myself, the Lord, and others, and through The Constant Application of the Doctrine of Christ in My Own Life; I will have greater Charity, be worthy of the Companionship of the Holy Ghost, be able to Teach with Power and Authority, find Satisfaction in my labor, and Prepare myself for the Higher Callings of Husband and Father.

May the Lord bless me in this vision I pray.

City Boy

Hey howdy Yall! Things have actually been really good this week after about Thursday. for the past 6 weeks I have had some pretty severe headaches that they weren’t able to figure out. It took a large toll on me and there was a large chance of me returning home for a time. Luckily the Lord still has need for me out here. I got in to see a chiropractor and though I am not 100% yet I am able to keep on out here. Not in Seminole though unfortunately. I am getting moved to Oklahoma city. OKC 1st ward. I am actually going to be with a Spanish elder that came out with me Elder Mickelson. Don’t remember a lot about him just that he is a stud and its going to be a party! I am going to miss it here in Seminole whats going to happen is called a pink wash where they shotgun the area with sisters. So its going to be fun making sure all the info for the area is up to date and the apartment is clean…:) Anyway. This week the spiritual thought is on knowing how to navigate the passages of life. In the Book of Mormon there is a awesome passage 2nd Nephi 32: 3-5 3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. 4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark. 5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do. This very clearly explains that the scriptures as we feast on them they tell us what to do. Not only that though but as we enter into the way (baptism and confirmation) we receive the Holy Ghost as a constant companion and we are SHOWN the way as well. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants our happiness. He has given the tools that we can achieve that. Love all y’all so much and hope that you have a fantabulous week. Any comments questions or concerns can be emailed, or written to the new address of 6438 N. Warren Ave. Apt. 161 Oklahoma city Oklahoma 73116. Would love to hear from yall! Take care!

Who What When Where How Why

Hey Yall. Still not all too much to tell about this week. Your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated and felt. Please please keep them coming. This weekend we had the fabulous opportunity to meet Elder D Todd Christopherson as he came to Tulsa for some business. There was an undeniable spirit that surrounded this special servant of the Lord and it was a fantastic conference where I got answers to questions I didn’t even know I had and answers I didn’t necessarily want but those are usually the best kind. But the main theme of his talk was on questions. All throughout the scriptures we are told that we knock and it shall be opened and ask and it shall be given to us. The key points in those statements are the verbs. It is shown that we have to make the first move. The door to revelation is there for all of us, but we need the key. That key is a question and faith. 3rd Nephi 14:7-11 says “ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 8 For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son ask bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” I can put it no better way. Love you all And hope that you have a blessed week!

Pain is Weakness Leaving The Body

Hey everyone! This week was pretty rad. Though I still havent been feeling all that up to snuff we had a good week ending with the baptism of Zack and Allie Archer two of our investigators. It was a pretty awesome day. They had a lot of family there and their Grandpa got to baptize and confirm them. It was a super cool experience. They both want to go on missions when they grow up and the are both working really hard on helping their Dad get to the font as well. They are super awesome and I am super happy for them both. Other than that not much to report on. Oklahoma has decided to jump into spring early and give is some 70 degree weather which is fantastic. It is so weird to think that last year when I got here it was snowing and cold enough to make a blueberry cow. I love it. I like the winter and all but cold with no snow seems like an oxymoron and I can live without it. This week has been a lot of thinking and pondering on why certain things are going on and what is the Lord trying to teach me through it all. Then yesterday we had a lesson on adversity. It seemed like the main focus of it all was as we go through trials they are to 1 make us humble and 2 help us to become stronger. The Lord knows what we are able to endure and what we can handle and hes not going to give anymore than we can handle without his help. Growth requires pain but Pain can be eased as we turn to the one that has gone through it before Alma 7:11-12 “and he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. 12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.” Christ has been where each of us are before. he has suffered more than any of us and that because He loves us and wants to be able to help us as we go through this life. I love you. Jesus loves you and hope that you have a great week.

Timing is everything

Hey everyone. Not much to report for this week. So I will leave you with a scripture that has been on my mind this week and hope that it has a little meaning for yall. Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” There is a purpose to everything that happens we may not know it but He does and that is where faith is essential. I love all yall and hope that you have a fantastic week.

Half Way there and Living on a Prayer

Hey howdy Yall! Wouldn’t you know it there is only 52 more of these weekly emails left. Thats crazy! In just 3 more days I hit One Year out here in the great state of Oklahoma! I love it so much here I hope that time passes slower so I can enjoy it more! But maybe its just making the time count. This week I don’t have too much to report on I have been kicked in the butt by some pressure headaches and have been flat on my backside for about two days. If you could keep me in your prayers though I know it will come out good. This weeks spiritual thought is on prayer. It seems so simple but yet it is truly fantastic. Simply by saying a prayer in our hearts or out loud we can communicate with the Alpha and Omega, The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob, The Lord of Hosts, and our Heavenly Father. And throughout the scriptures we are told that whatsoever we ask we shall receive. So I am asking why don’t we ask more? 3rd Nephi 14:11 ” If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” I know that the Lord grants unto his children what ever they need to make it through this mortal existence all we have to do is ask. So just do it I recon is the best way to go about it. Love you all! Hope you have a fantastic week!

Lip Sync Doctrine

Hey! How are y’all? I hope that you had a fantastic week and that all of you were blessed beyond belief! Really not to much to report this week. Just pretty basic week nothing too out of the ordinary. We had transfers this week and I got to say its kinda strange not having a new companion or area. But I think that it will work out we are having fantastic success and Loving life. Elder Anderson from Ogden Utah is the new guy/district leader. He is a pretty chill guy fits in really well here and is super awesome. He has been out for one transfer longer than I have and I think this next transfer is going to be pretty cool. Then the next experience/ spiritual thought is this. We had on Friday a talent show that was super fun. Lots of talents in this branch out here and lots of awesome people. We as missionaries threw together a fun little skit. We did a lip sync to Our Humble way from Saturdays Warrior. It was fun to do and to watch. (it should be getting put on youtube some time so as soon as I get the link I’ll set yall up to watch it and i will probably put it on my blog as well) But THe spiritual thought for that is earlier that day in district meeting we watched a worldwide broadcast to missionaries. On that Elder Bednar was talking about the spirit and teaching by the spirit. In D&C 84: 85 says Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man. Those of you who know me know I cant carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it, but I know songs like the back of my hand. All of us are called to be missionaries and to share the gospel of truth but sometimes we don’t know exactly what to say or how to express ourselves. The Lord says though if we treasure up the gospel in our minds then he will help us out just like with me and the lip sync the words just get put into our mouths and they sound good! To us and the people that are hearing them! Love all y’all and hope you have a superb week!
